I have a problem in so far as "male gaze" seems to be used solely as a stick to beat S8 with when the issue is so much more pervasive. But I agree about the Chen covers and bought the alternates for the Faith and Dawn ones - the Willow one works for me, it does feel like its making a point that's central to the story and I like the way she draws the snake lady and the overall composition. However, I do feel a little uncomfortable about how those covers have been used to imply that Chen has been brainwashed by the patriarchy. The belly shirts was a good point too and one I hadn't picked up on until it was remarked on but then again I tend to think of belly baring as something I would have done when I felt good about myself rather than to make men look. It's not a body region that commodified in quite the same the way tits and ass are.
