I still have a tendency to be a little on the defensive about how people react to the boys. It’s really nice when someone just sees them as funny little kids. They have slightly different problems but these days they both seem quite happy with life a lot of the time. When they were younger it was if the world were a very strange, often hostile place and no-one had given them a manual. They seem to have worked out enough to start to get by now. We’ve had a lot of help. They’re seven.
