Silly song season

The boys have had the Comic Relief version of 500 miles on iTunes repeat this past week. Sweet memories of PhD days in Edinburgh but my favourite Proclaimers song was always Letter from America.

Blackheath no more, Irvine no more, Lochaber no more…

My father is London born and bred but always self-identifies as Scots, raised by exiles, evacuated briefly to Perthshire during the war, the loss inherited epigenetically.

And at the other end of the emo scale I’ve also fallen in love with Natasha Beddington’s latest I wanna have your babies

I’m in a big, big, big, big ocean.
In a tiny little boat

It’s the alternative ending to Children of Men! The one for dancing around in pink pyjamas to.

HA! *giggles* My mother, Scot born and bred, discovered The Proclaimers for the first time a year ago. She went out and bought their CDs after someone played '500 miles' at a staff conference. How she avoided them until this time, I have no idea!

Cool. They were on a chat show with David Tennant fanboying them last week and hadn't changed a whit, they still loked exactly like they did on the album cover, younger versions of all my 11 identical great uncles from Auchtermurchy. I think it's the glasses.
