And so said The Master, if for very different reasons... Yes The Doctor was being *benevolent*, but he also knew that it was the worst possible thing he could say. Because he put himself in a *higher* position than The Master, made himself the one responsible for his fate. He had won. It was in his power to give or with-hold punishment. The Master letting himself die was just brilliant - he did the one thing The Doctor couldn't forgive...
