The antibiotic I've just started taking has the weird side effect of making all the veins on the back of the hand stand out like they've been CGI'd. It's a little gross. A lot gross is what looked like a baby mouse corpse in the back yard (that cat is going to die) turning out to be a furry fox turd. Or possibly a very large dead slug (that cat is going to die). She is getting old (the cat). We got her via a rescue project when she was two years old and the previous owners had had a third floor tenement flat so she'd never been outside. First time we let her out into the garden she reverted to kitten levels of spazziness, freaking at passing insects and threatening blades of grass but the learning curve was steep and soon she was holding her own against the other cats in the neighbourhood. Losing her powers now, there's a ginger monster that comes and eats her leftovers right in front of her and she just sits there pretending not to care.
Other joys of big city living, some time in the summer I remembered this song from the mid-seventies by a disco artist called Cristina, a version of the Peggy Lee number Is that all there is? Somewhat surprisingly a CD that included it turned out to be available from Amazon, so I put in an order and waited. And waited. Eventually they gave up sending "sorry your order has been delayed" notices every three weeks and admitted defeat. So I googled for it again and found it on a UK distributer who, on checking the address, turned out to be the far-too-cool looking record shop two blocks away from our house. Soon, soon it will be mine!
