Last night I watched the second half of The Lady From Shanghai. It’s such an uncomfortably hot film, all the sweat running off the men’s faces, only Rita keeping her immaculate powdered cool in every close up. As ever, the big production number was the Hall of Mirrors shooting but I’d completely forgotten the aquarium sequence. A better vidder than me would remix Icebound Stream with sharks instead of polar bears in the tanks. There would be shattered mirrors and tropical heat in place of snow globes and arctic landscapes and an infinitely more bitter ending .



The other vid I would like to make but never will would be a Harold Saxon/Master one to the Stone Roses I Wanna Be Adored. Its USP would be to tell the Doctor’s story entirely in reaction shots but match them to Simms instead of Tennant. The song has that slow build so you could follow the show in holding the protagonist reveal until very late and I’m not sure whether it would begin or end with the whole world chanting “Doctor” montages or how to integrate them with the Toclofane singing but in my head it works really well.

Goodness. I've no knowledge of source but the way you described it... Boy, I would like to see that vid.

It's a great curate's egg of a movie, visually fascinating but hard to listen to if you've ever met a real Irishman. Would need to be in colour to vid for real I think, could Sin City it maybe.
