1. A structural or behavioral characteristic peculiar to an individual or group.
2. A physiological or temperamental peculiarity.
3. An unusual individual reaction to food or a drug.

List five of your own idiosyncrasies and then tag five friends to do the same.

1. I hate retracing my steps. Even if I’m out with other people I’ll find myself surreptiously trying to arrange it that we don’t come back the way we came.

2. I really can’t spell. At all, but I can do anagrams in crosswords. Just looking at the clues makes the letters dance around and rearrange into the answer. Spelt wrong.

3. Sunlight makes me sneeze.

4. I get scarred of every least thing in the movies. Honestly I was hiding behind the couch every time the dog’s eyes lit up in ‘Zoltan Hound of Dracula.’

5.I talk to animals. Well at them I’m not that deluded.

the letters dance around and rearrange
See, this must be one of the things, like left/right confusion, that has some deep unappreciated evolutionary advantage somewhere. Even apart from crossword puzzles.

Oh I do the left/right thing too. Some day we will take over the world.

My SO shares your third quirk. He was the first person I'd met who did that and it always made me laugh :>

I never realised other people didn't until Kevin told me. The boys have it - my genes win.

I do that. Mt optician tells me it's because sunlight makes your eyes water, the tears run down some kind of internal passage into your nose and the enzymes in them make you sneeze.

Like the icon.

At first I thought the sneezing happened too quickly for all that to be going on but no, you take a few seps in the sun, then it feels like someone's let off a flashlight in your brain , then you sneeze. The flash isn't the sunlight its your brain antiipating the sneeze. I think I had read somewhere that it involved some kind of dysfunctional cross-talk between the visual and olfactory processing systems, like a mild form of synesthesia, but this sounds easier to test.

Oh, I've got that too. Can't spell, can't tell left from right, can't tell the time from an analogue clock, but I can do anagrams. So glad I got the really useful skill.

Clocks were my childhood trauma. I got given my first watch on my 6th birthday, went round telling everyone the time, as you do, and it was wrong, all wrong. I was so ashamed I refused to use one for years.

Hey, I talk to animals! And may also be somewhat deluded. Possibly. (You mean those aren't conversations?)

On an unrelated note, where can you be reached via e-mail? If you'd rather not post it here, you can write to me at plin at teaattheford dot net.

Yes, she really is a big kitty now. She's 14 months now, and half that time we've spent together.

It truly does fly. Wow.

(And thanks!)
